In this story, Dax reads a book which leads to a family adventure camping on a beach. Dax is so sweet to his sister who is a little apprehensive about the ocean, and shows her that it’s okay. This is a wonderful story. I only wish the pictures were in color since it is a book for a new emerging reader that may be less excited to try reading it in black and white.

I thought this was a fun adventure story. Dax reads a book about the Dunes and then takes a family vacation there. It is refreshing to read a story where the family enjoys being together. Dax’s younger sister is afraid of the beach, and Dax shows kindness by helping her see that it isn’t scary at all. My 6 year old daughter really enjoyed reading this story to me. It has black and white pictures in it.

My children are especially excited for our next camping trip after reading this simple, easy to read book about Dax and his family vacation. We all immediately started talking about our family trips and the importance of traditions. There was something in this quick book for everyone to enjoy, including adventure, kindness, and the importance of family.
