Elf Owl is a cute story about the smallest owl in the world and where he lives. We journeyed through the life of this tiny creature and the other animals and plants he interacts with. It is a great story with wonderful pictures.

The whole time I tried to read this book, my children were constantly interrupting me with exclamations and questions like “Oh, look at that!” and “Mom, what’s that?” Needles to say, the illustrations did their job and drew in my children. I couldn’t read fast enough to suit my eager listeners! The writing is descriptive, expressive, and informative. My children enjoyed this book very much, and it’s one they pored over well after we finished reading.

Picture Book for All Ages

The Sonoran Desert stretches from the southwestern United States down through western Mexico and is home to many creatures, including one of the world’s tiniest and cutest birds of prey: the elf owl. We will follow him through his ecosystem as he goes about his nightly business, and then join him as he ventures out on his own during the day. There is always something interesting to observe at any time of day or night in this surprisingly biodiverse ecosystem.
