I chose this book for my daughter who loves animals. Although a cute story, it was originally written in 1949 and has a couple troubling aspects. The owner of the dog is called his “master” and is named Dick. Additionally the interior paper quality does not match the colorful hardcover books. The paper isn’t as nice and smooth as the other hardcover books we have purchased from TGTB. Overall it was a sweet story, but quite old fashioned.

Hank is a puppy who has a wonderful life until his owner Dick brings home a little black kitten. Yes, the kitten is cute, but she won’t leave Hank alone! When he sleeps, she curls up next to him. When he drinks water, she drinks from his bowl, too. Even when Hank goes on walks with his master, the kitten scampers along behind them. Hank thinks he was better off before the kitten arrived. But when the kitten goes missing, Hank must decide if he’s willing to help bring her home.
