My 8 and 6 yr old boys really liked this book! They talk of Johnny McKee weeks after I read it.
It kept my attention well. It took a little while to build up, but it had an exciting ending.
Our children loved this book! We had so much fun gathering in the living room to read aloud together. And I love how older out of print books are brought back to life here at TGTB. Highly suggest this book
My son received this for the summer reading incentive and read it in a matter of days! He is asking me for more just like it 🙂
We read this aloud to the family, and everyone really enjoyed it! Johnny is thoughtful and hard-working. The kids especially liked Johnny’s love for all animals.
After exploring the woods with his friends, Johnny McKee makes a quick trip to the nearby Rolf dairy farm to see their horse, Red Boy. He could never guess the terrible situation he would cause due to a simple mistake. Things worsen when a natural disaster hits and Johnny finds himself in an increasingly dangerous situation.
“We are excited to bring this book back to the world after it was lost to children and out of print for over 50 years. We have scoured the literary world for treasures just like this to add to our library—delightful and wholesome books that help children gain respectful attitudes, honesty, love of nature, and love of good books.
