My son usually doesn’t tell me about books unless I ask, but he went out of his way to tell ne about this one and how great it was. Let’s get more titles from this author!!!!
My son loved it and wanted to read again!
My daughter loved this book! She is not a strong reader and this book was perfect for her first chapter book.
This book was fantastic! My 3rd grader read it aloud with me. It taught responsibility, honesty, and decision making. Johnny had a few hard decisions to make. It was fun to discuss what my daughter would do in Johnny’s place. We both enjoyed it!
I had three of my children read this for GATB’s summer reading program. Overall, a good family book. My daughter said, ” I liked the book, showed how much the father loved the kids. I liked how the book told about overcoming fear.”
As a mother, I love how I know giving a GATB book to my children I don’t have to worry about the content not being moral.
After exploring the woods with his friends, Johnny McKee makes a quick trip to the nearby Rolf dairy farm to see their horse, Red Boy. He could never guess the terrible situation he would cause due to a simple mistake. Things worsen when a natural disaster hits and Johnny finds himself in an increasingly dangerous situation.
“We are excited to bring this book back to the world after it was lost to children and out of print for over 50 years. We have scoured the literary world for treasures just like this to add to our library—delightful and wholesome books that help children gain respectful attitudes, honesty, love of nature, and love of good books.
