Mary Helen and the Black Pony
by Molly Sanchez
Perfect for horse loving children!
My 9 year old is obsessed with horses and she loves this book! (Although now she wants a pony even more.) The story helps children to be brave and learn to talk to others if they are shy, and how to get along with people of all ages. Filled with hope and optimism, this book is high quality!
Overcoming Fears
This is a great book to give to a little girl with any fears, not just shyness. I like that the little girl was given ways of overcoming her fears but also that it was ok that she had those fears, and that it takes time.
Great chapter book for daughter.
My daughter loves horses and adores this book. She is excited about venturing into chapter books also. This is a perfect start.
Not just a little girl and her pony, but love!
This is an encouraging story for any child to read! All through the story of a little girl and her very own black pony, children will see how their family and God loves and cares for them. It shows children they are not alone and they can pray and overcome their fears, and to look to see God’s providence in their lives. It’s just so beautiful!
Level 2B
Mary Helen is a happy little girl who loves God, family, friends, and horses. But Mary Helen has a problem–she’s too shy to talk to anyone else! Grown-ups and older kids seem too scary to talk to, so she can only lower her head and say nothing at all. Find out how Mary Helen is able to grow and face her fears through God’s love, some helpful advice from her parents, and caring for a beautiful black pony named Moki.
