How This Course Works
About This Course
The About This Course pages in the front of your course book contain details unique to Math 1. Click the About This Course button below to read everything you need to know!
Course Organization
Simply Good and Beautiful Math 1 contains 120 lessons. The easy-to-use format instructs both you and your child what to say and do for each lesson. Blue text indicates instructions to you, the teacher, and black text is what you read to the child.
Daily lessons open with a short review section that can be skipped if your child has mastered the concepts. This course is divided into three units, each with a unit assessment. The Math 1 Answer Key is a free download found on the FAQs page.
Simply Good and Beautiful Math teaches through a spiral approach. Each lesson introduces a new concept, gives the child an opportunity to practice the concept, and then reviews previously learned material. Learn more about spiral math in the video below.
Lesson Pacing
Students complete lessons 4–5 days each week. Most children finish a single lesson in just 15-20 minutes. While some children complete one lesson a day, others may move at a quicker or slower pace. Whatever your child’s pace, it is acceptable if he or she is enjoying learning and not feeling too rushed or overwhelmed.
Watch for cues from your child to determine how much work he or she can do in one session. See About the Course for more information on maximizing the course to fit your child’s individual needs.
