My daughter loved reading this book to me. I appreciated the story line and she thought it was an incredible testimony of sacrifice! She is already looking for new ways to help support people in need, and our church!
My 9 yr old daughter has pronounced this her favorite book! She can read this over and over, and after the first time she finished it she told me I had to read it because it is such a great story! I think the whole thing touched her heart, as she loves color and Maria’s tenderness and generosity is something that will stick with her and help build her character.
Great book about a little girl making sacrifices for what he believes in. My daughter loved it especially and it led into some great conversations about being grateful and giving up things to help others.
I love the good values of hard work, ingenuity, and selflessness that this story portrays. The descriptions help this story come alive. Wonderful, character-building discussions could result from reading this book.
Such a sweet story about seeing a need, being generous, and working hard to achieve a goal. Loved the illustrations and message. Really engaged my 7 and 5 year old and prompted them to ask questions after.
Maria’s world is brown, brown, brown! That is, except for her beautiful Sunday dress, and the wonderfully-colored stained glass windows at the church. When a storm causes a tree to fall and shatter the precious windows, Maria wants to do something to help earn enough money to replace them. Her ideas, her hard work, and her generosity bring beautiful colors and joy to the entire community.
