Great confidence booster!
My son is a very reluctant reader. Reading does not come naturally to him. I presented him with this book and at first, he was not interested and it was a struggle to get him to read. Once we got into it though, he did not want to stop! He loves being read to and so when he realized he was reading his very own chapter book, he felt so special. The story was really sweet. He was so proud when he completed the book and could not wait to dive into the next one!

Fun adventure for early readers
My boys love this book! Both of them separately asked me to read it to them today, and my older son got so excited he asked if he could finish reading it aloud to me half-way through the book. At first I was unsure how the story would go when Dave wanted to catch a frog and take it home as a pet, but as I read I was really pleased with the outcome. Simple words, good repetition of some words without feeling too redundant in speech. Love it!

Lovely story
Such a lovely story about caring for pets and the responsibilities that go along with it. Great book about exploring nature and respecting it as well. It was a great book for building confidence in reading and kept my sons interest and the illustrations are perfect. I plan to keep and use as a read aloud for the Reptiles & Amphibians Science curriculum as well.

Good story, interesting pictures
I like how true to life this story can be. The illustrations show movement very well, and have a lot for little eyes to drink in. The pictures and story are great for young children who love to catch “pets” and try to keep them.

The best books!
My son loved this series that included Dave in each book. Such sweet stories! I really liked that kids feel like they are reading chapter books like their older siblings. My son reads a chapter a day and he loves adding his bookmark at the end of each chapter. The illustrations are adorable and keeps my son wanting to read more!
