FAQ's
I am teaching multiple children. What do I need to purchase?
Each child in your household will need his or her own set of two Course Books. The Answer Key and the 3 correlated books are non-consumable and can be shared, although some children prefer having their own set of reading books.
When is my child ready to begin the Level 4 course?
A child is ready for Level 4 Language Arts when he or she reaches fourth grade age and is able to pass the placement test reading passage included in the Language Arts Placement Test. Please see our Placement Test for additional placement suggestions and details.
Can I access the online portion of the LA 4 course on a phone or tablet?
We strongly suggest that your student use a laptop or desktop for the online component because the small screen size of tablets and phones will not be optimal.
The online component of the course can be accessed at courses.goodandbeautiful.com on any web browser. If you choose to use the web browser on your phone or tablet to complete the online components, please be aware that some exercises may be difficult for the student to complete.
Are the online videos required to complete the course?
The online component is optional, but recommended. Engaging grammar explanations, art project videos, book discussions, grammar songs, and helpful Quick Reference Guide videos can all be accessed on courses.goodandbeautiful.com for free.
How long will this course take my child to complete?
The course is designed for a child to complete a lesson 4 to 5 days a week. If 4 lessons a week are completed, the child will complete the course in 30 weeks.
Each lesson will take the child between 30–40 minutes, not including the Simply Spelling lesson or personal reading times.
What resources should I add to enhance this course?
We recommend adding the following products to enhance learning for your Level 4 child, which can be purchased on our Language Arts Level 4 product page.
Simply Spelling: Sky-High Adventures—an optional practice book to go along with the online Simply Spelling program
Quick Reference Guide—a handy non-consumable reference book used for Language Arts 4–8
Handwriting—choose the appropriate book for the child's level
How does this course differ from the previous version of Language Arts 4?
The new Level 4 Language Arts course has more robust writing instruction, book discussions, engaging videos that explain grammar concepts and new vocabulary words, brand-new correlated books, video instruction for art projects, fun grammar songs, and a physical answer key. Spelling is practiced in our exciting new online FREE Simply Spelling program with optional Practice Workbooks available for purchase.
