By knowing the days of the week, children can begin to . . .
- Develop a sense of time.
- Anticipate what will happen next.
- Learn basic math concepts, like sequencing and counting.
7 Fun Ways to Learn the Days of the Week
- Sing The Good and the Beautiful Days of the Week song while you point to the days on a calendar together
- Write the name of each day on a clothespin or magnet. Have the child clip or stick them in the correct order.
- Write the name of each day on a small sticky paper or painter’s tape and attach each one to a toy car. Have the child drive or park the cars in order.
- Use The Good and the Beautiful Letter Tiles app to practice spelling the name of each day of the week.
- Write the name of each day on hopscotch squares. As the child jumps along, have the child say or sing each day.
- Play a matching game. Write each day of the week on two separate cards. Mix them up, face down, and take turns trying to make matches.
