Homeschooling Year-Round vs Traditional

This is one reason I love TGTB, we also choose more of a hybrid approach and the way the lessons are structured works perfectly for our family. We take breaks when needed, extra time during the holidays, and then lighten the load during summer. The structure helps my AuDHD kiddos and the flexibility helps me stay sane and on track! As a single mom, who has her kids 100% of the time, this has been a life saver. The flexibility to do what works best for our family.

While I understand the year-round approach may work well under some circumstances for some families, we have chosen to do the traditional summer off. We all enjoy the break, are active in our Church functions, and are refreshed and ready to hit the books again in the fall!

We sort of do year round… in the summer we take it lighter though. I like to keep a routine going. I like to be able to have shorter school days and keep things going all year :)

We started out planning to do year round but couldn’t quite get a routine down so now we pretty much do it like traditional school.

This is our first year. I have had friends take both approaches and have seen pros and cons for both. I like the idea of doing the hybrid – doing it all everyday but with some flexibility knowing we can work through the summer too!
