It has a great message of bravery.
I think what I love most about this book, is that at the end, he is passing the trait of bravery to his own children.

The stories are dynamic and interesting even while being easy enough for new readers. This is a cute little tale about a boy who faced his fear of rats in order to save something precious to his mother.
Love this book! Hardback, nice thick pages, and beautiful pictures. Cute story about overcoming your fears and finding strength and courage within.
I have enjoyed all the Gold Tales books and my daughter loves all of them. I found this one less interesting as the Jane and King book but although I was less interested, my daughter was enthralled and that is all that matters! She corrected me when I said it was just “pretty good” and had to spend several minutes explaining the GOOD of this book and the moral. Ha! I have to love any book that she reads and can spout back all the key points of enthusiastically. Love all the purples and teals of these three books, such beautiful illustrations for sure!
I was impressed before we even opened the book. It is a hardcover book with high quality paper and gorgeous illustrations. My kids and I really enjoyed this story of Blake overcoming his fear to help his mother. We love the colorful, interesting illustrations and can’t wait to read the other books in the Gold Tales collection.
