Jack and the Lost Maze
by Jenny Phillips
Gentle courage
A delightful story of a boy’s adventure. He shows true love and faith in what could have been seen as a scary situation. Perfect for my sensitive son.
Look to God and he will help
Love the storyline and what it teaches. Jack gets lost and looks to God to point him in the right direction.
Faith in God
My kids were excited to read this one because of their love of mazes. We had to finish it in one sitting because they wanted to know what happened. Such a sweet story. I loved that it included taking the time to feel the emotions you have and then turning to God for help. I loved how it mentions that sometimes prayers aren’t answered the way we think they could be and then shows the way Jack’s prayer was answered. Such a refreshing read! My kids really enjoyed this one!
We love this one.
We have many books from the good and beautiful library and this is one of the ones I like more than the others.
Mazes are a family favorite
My children both liked the maze aspect of the story. They love playing in the hedgerow maze found in Disney World’s Epcot, and every autumn they create their own maze with Daddy using fallen leaves on the lawn. As soon as they read about Jack finding a maze, their faces lit up. They also enjoyed trying to anticipate what was going to happen next, and ultimately learning if their guesses were correct.
J. (3 stars) didn’t like that Jack disobeyed his mother and went in the dangerous part. He liked how they made the maze safe and pointed arrows where to go.
C. (4 stars) thought the maze was cool. She liked how Jack got out of the maze with help from the owl he brought food to.
Level 1B
Jack has always been interested in the story about an old, hidden maze in the beautiful, mysterious hills around his home. One day, while tending his flock of sheep, Jack chases a sheep under a bush and finds himself in a lost maze! He cannot find his way out and wonders if he will ever get back home. Jack’s faith in God and his love of music and animals work together in this enchanting tale.
