Required Items
You need only one copy of the Beginning Chemistry unit for your family. Make copies of individual pages using the free PDF that was emailed to you after the purchase of the printed unit.
If you use this science course in a group setting, you must purchase a physical copy for each set of eight children in the class.
Please note: If you choose to return an unwanted unit or cancel an order, you will be charged the full amount for the PDF file; only the physical unit is refundable.

Chemistry Unit Information

Science Journal
Each child needs a 1″ to 2″ 3-ring binder to record their observations and findings. Fill each binder with a few sheets of lined paper and blank white paper.

Lesson Preparation
Your Beginning Chemistry unit arrived unbound and shrink wrapped. With some printing, cutting, and assembling a few pages now, the lessons will be open-and-go when you are ready to teach. Would you like some ideas for organizing your unit? Watch this video.

Science Wall
We recommend you cut apart the vocabulary words now, so they are ready to be placed on your science wall. The course tells you when to use these.

Lesson Mini Books
To assemble the mini books, cut them in half along the dotted lines, stack the pages together with the page numbers in the correct order, and staple twice along the left side.

Activities and Experiments
Several lessons include hands-on activities. You can find a supply list and instructions for all activities and experiments within the course.

Content for Older Children
The Good and the Beautiful designed this unit for grades 5–6. The magnifying glass at the end of most lessons signals activities for children in grades 7–8. Younger children can learn along with older children, but this unit works best for older children.

New Discoveries
New discoveries in all fields of science are being made on an ongoing basis. The Good and the Beautiful reviews and revises science units periodically to keep information as up-to-date as possible.
