How This Course Works
Lesson Pacing

The Kindergarten Prep course consists of 30 lessons. Each lesson is 1–3 pages, is parent-directed, and provides detailed teaching for children ages 3–5.
The course helps the child master letter sounds, reading of two-letter words and three-letter CVC (consonant vowel consonant) words, counting and numbers, rhyming, and recognition of the vowels.
The course also shows the child how to use correct pencil grip, covers beginning handwriting skills such as tracing straight and curved lines, and helps the child practice fine motor skills.
Learning is a journey for children. While some children complete a lesson a day, others may move at a quicker or slower pace. Whatever the child’s pace, it is acceptable if he or she is enjoying learning and not feeling too rushed or overwhelmed.
As you begin this course, watch for cues from your child that show how much work he or she can do in one session.
Easy-to-use Format

The lessons are laid out in an easy-to-use format. Simply open the book each day and follow the instructions, learning along with the child. Blue text is instructions to you, the parent. Black text is what you read to the child.
For additional tips for teaching young children read the Frequently Asked Questions found in the About This Course pages of the Kindergarten Prep Course Book.
