Welcome to The Good and the Beautiful Language Arts Level K

Before You Begin Level K

Language Arts Level K is designed to be open-and-go! This means there is no need to read or prepare anything daily.

It is, however, extremely useful to spend a few minutes getting an overview of the course. Here are a few highlights.

Required Items Needed for This Course

The Level K course set arrives bubble wrapped and includes the individual items listed below. Are you missing an item? Compare your packing slip to your order. You may have ordered the “course book” rather than the “course set.”

If something is missing, contact our Customer Support Team at [email protected] and we will be happy to help you.

Free Apps

The Homeschool App contains all the videos, narrated books, and art audio narrations. The Letter Tiles app is a convenient letter board children can use to practice spelling. The course book will direct you when to use each app.

It is possible to complete the course without the use of the apps, but both apps were specifically designed with this course in mind. We recommend downloading the FREE apps and explore them for yourself!

How This Course Works

Lesson Overview

This 120-lesson course is designed to be taught 4–5 days a week. Level K focuses heavily on phonics and reading, and requires daily one-on-one time with a parent or teacher.

Learning is a journey for children. While some children complete a lesson a day, others may move at a quicker or slower pace. Whatever the child’s pace, it is acceptable if he or she is enjoying learning and not feeling too rushed or overwhelmed. As you begin this course, watch for cues from your child that show how much work he or she can do in one session.

Easy-to-use Format

The lessons are laid out in an easy-to-use format. Simply open the book each day and follow the instructions, learning along with the child. Blue text indicates instructions to you, the teacher, and black text is what you read to the child. Each lesson concludes with an independent practice section for the child to complete on his or her own. It is a great way for the child to show what he or she knows and a convenient time for you to begin working with another child.

Lessons prompt you when to use the Reading Booster A Cards and Books, the Homeschool App, and the Letter Tiles app.

Reading Booster A Cards and Books

The Reading Booster A Cards help children master phonics principles that boost reading speed, fluency, and confidence. The cards also help children master sight words, which are high-frequency words that often cannot be sounded out.

The Reading Booster A Books Set correlates with these cards. Each book follows the same scope and sequence as the Reading Booster A Cards.

Lessons direct you when to use the cards and books.
